Privacy Notice

Ingaro (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information processed through BasketWise. Contact info@ingaro.co.za for privacy requests.
1. Information we collect
- Google account identifier, verified email address, name and profile photo supplied through Google sign-in.
- Your selected town and retailer branches.
- Your favourites, shopping lists and list activity.
- Search terms, price observations, feature interactions and timestamps.
- Session cookies and limited technical or security logs needed to operate and protect the service.
- Your Terms version and acceptance time.
We do not receive your Google password, retailer passwords, retailer cart cookies or payment-card details.
2. Why we process it
We use this information to authenticate you, provide location-specific comparisons, save your lists and preferences, improve matching and price history, support users, prevent abuse, maintain security, comply with law and enforce our Terms. Processing is based on providing the service you requested, our legitimate operational and security interests, legal obligations, and consent where the law requires it.
3. Retailer and service-provider disclosures
Search terms and selected branch context are sent to the relevant retailers to retrieve results. Google provides authentication. Hosting, security, content-delivery and infrastructure providers may process limited information on our behalf. BasketWise currently uses infrastructure that may include Linode/Akamai and Cloudflare. We do not sell personal information.
4. International processing
Some service providers may process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to use providers and arrangements that offer appropriate protection consistent with applicable South African law.
5. Retention
Account information, location, favourites and lists are retained while your account exists and deleted when you use the account-deletion feature, subject to limited legal, security and backup requirements. Shared price observations and de-identified search analytics are not tied to your account and may be retained to provide price history and improve the service. Operational logs are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for security and diagnostics.
6. Cookies
BasketWise uses an essential, secure session cookie to keep you signed in and protect your account. We do not currently use advertising cookies.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, protected session cookies, encryption in transit in production, and data minimisation. No online service can promise absolute security.
8. Your rights
Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may ask whether we hold your information, request access or correction, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where applicable, and request deletion. You can delete your BasketWise account in Settings or email info@ingaro.co.za. We may need to verify your identity.
9. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can address your concern. You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator.
10. Children
BasketWise is not intended for people under 18 and we do not knowingly create accounts for children.
11. Changes
We will publish updates here, change the version date, and request renewed acceptance where a change materially affects account use or personal-information processing.
